Why do we use two different types of Hyaluronic Acid in our serums?
First off, what is Hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a sugar molecule found naturally in our bodies that holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water to keep our skin hydrated. HA binds with collagen and water molecules, which traps the acid in our skin and prevents it from evaporating into the air. This leaves your skin healthier, dewier, and plumper.
What are the two different types of HA?
Hyaluronic acid has a molecular weight of 4000 to 8,000,000 daltons.
Type one would be a Low Molecular Weight HA which is 400.000 to 1.000.000 in daltons.
Our Hybrid Serum consists of a low molecular weight hyaluronic acid!
HA with a low molecular weight easily absorbs and penetrates the deepest layers of your skin. This means it provides intense moisture and sustained hydration deep in the skin for a long period of time.
Type two would be a High Molecular Weight HA which is >1.800.000 in daltons.
Our Vitamin C Serum consists of a high molecular weight hyaluronic acid!
As the HA molecule gets bigger and the molecular weight higher, it remains closer to the surface of the skin. A high molecular weight HA delivers the most visible results, but with a shorter life-span.
Which type is best for your skin?
Combining both types of HA in your daily routine gives your skin the best results! This is why the serum bundle is one of our faves.
